Ron Hume holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology and was initially trained and practiced as a psychotherapist. Since then he has acquired twenty- three years of experience as the executive director of several non profit organizations. His professional practice includes youth services, mental health, child welfare, and special education. He specializes in the relationship of learning and attention disabilities to juvenile justice, corrections, chemical dependency and welfare. Ron speaks, consults and trains nationally and internationally.

Ron is presently a member of the Board of Directors of the Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) of America, and serves on the Justice System/Mental Health Committee of LDA of America. While in Washington State Ron served as the chairperson of the King County Alliance for Human Services (Seattle, WA.). Ron was the 1991 recipient of the Hall of Fame award for exemplary contributions to the Juvenile Justice system of Lake County, Illinois

Ron currently serves as the Executive Director of NCO Youth & Family Services in Naperville, Illinois. Previously, Ron served as the Executive Director of the Cove School, a private school for students with learning and attention disabilities, as the Director of Affiliate Services of the Learning Disabilities Association of America, and as the Executive Director o+f the Learning Disabilities Association of Washington State. Ron was also the founding Executive Director of the Community Youth Network, a mental health/child welfare agency in Lake County, Illinois. He is formerly a visiting instructor at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Institute, director of crisis programs at a youth service agency and a therapist in private practice.
